Voices of Culture and Linguistics Analysis (VoCAL) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to publishing scholarly works by academics, researchers, educators, and practitioners specializing in education and the humanities, with a primary emphasis on local wisdom through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. The focus and scope of VoCAL encompass three main fields: (1) oral traditions, including folklore, folk poetry and songs, traditional expressions, and traditional riddles; (2) Indonesian language education, including innovations in local culture-based language learning and cultural literacy; and (3) linguistics, including Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL)—such as language metafunction analysis, transitivity, and situational-cultural context—as well as other linguistic subfields comprising theoretical linguistics, pragmatics, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics, and applied linguistics. The journal is published semiannually in June and December under ISSN XXXX-XXXX (online). This publication is collaboratively managed by the Department of Indonesian Language Education in partnership with UM Tapsel Press. Currently, VoCAL is indexed in reputable databases. VoCAL provides immediate open access to all of its content under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License as an optimal license for the publication, distribution, use, and reuse of research articles.
